Local Restaurants
If you are tired of the casino
atmosphere and you have no more comps left, you
could stick to the restaurants in the casinos
because there are plenty of great places. But
if you are the adventurous type or need a change
of scene, you can sample a few of the local restaurant
establishments.
White House Hoagies (Subs)
This is a must go!
2301 Arctic Avenue
Atlantic City, NJ 08401
(609) 345-1564
This establishment has been there
since 1946 and is considered a must go tradition
by most locals. Pictures of Hollywood stars who
have visited the White House surround you as you
walk in. Some say that the bread is the key ingredient;
others say the wall of aroma that hits you as
you walk through the door is enough to make your
eyes bigger than your stomach! Great sandwiches
at great prices and is often noted as a "Best
Bang for the Buck". Most recently, George
Clooney was spotted filming a soon to be released
movie at this legendary establishment.
Melissa's Bistro
9307 Ventnor Ave (Between Decatur & Washington
Avenues)
Margate, NJ (609) 823-1414
A very small restaurant that
gets crowded quickly. Excellent food, but can
be costly as it is at the upper echelon of menu
prices. I really enjoyed the puff pastry with
shrimp and crab in a sinfully delicious yet light
Frangelica sauce. Well known and frequented by
locals. Make Reservations if you can! BYOB
Tomatoes
9210 Ventnor Ave.
Margate, NJ
(609) 822-7535
One of the many restaurants competing
for local crowds, and it does get more than its
fair share of the crowd. It is very trendy and
popular restaurant featuring fresh seafood and
interesting presentations.
